Food Safety. It is an issue debated around the dinner table, more often in the wake of Listeria. The bacteria was found inside the Maple Leaf Foods plant in North York this past summer and prompted a massive recall of packaged meat products. Since January of last year, there have been 11 product recalls of possible Listeria contamination in foods ranging from leeks and mushrooms to smoked salmon, egg salad and hot dogs. As a result consumers have become pro active in their food selection, and preparation. The want to be armed with the necessary information to keep their family safe.
