STEVE MARTIN will host the Oscars for the third time next March, but not without some help.

Steve will share his hosting duties with ALEC BALDWIN at the Oscars on March 7th

Steve joked in a statement that he is, "happy to co-host the Oscars with his enemy Alec Baldwin."

And Alec Baldwin referenced Steve’s music career by shooting back, "I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars -- it's the opportunity of a lifetime."

We hear that producers of the Oscars first approached Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller to host the show, but they both refused!
