Dru
Singer, songwriter and producer Dru (Andrew Grange) released his debut solo album “The One” on Tuesday September 30th, 2008, through major music retailers including HMV. On the same day, the album was rated 3.5 out of 4 stars in the Toronto Star.
Growing up in Toronto and passionately pursuing his music career since 1993, the Juno and MMVA award winner’s major influences include Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo and Jay-Z.
In 2008, Dru kept a strong presence in Canada’s CHR/Top 40 and hot AC stations and was honoured as the Emerging Artist of the Month, in April 2008. Singles ‘The One’, ‘Stay with Me (Always)’ and ‘Seasons’ are in rotation across the country, with videos appearing on MuchMusic, MuchVibe, and ETalk, among other outlets.
Dru has been identified by Billboard Magazine as one of the most Important Emerging Canadian Artists, and his debut solo release solidifies him as “The Prince of the North”. Dru’s new album “The One” is released by Effortless Entertainment and Morojele Music Group and distributed in Canada by Fontana North and Universal.
Before becoming a solo artist, Dru was a member of Canadian R&B group In Essence. Armed with only a stereo and a demo, In Essence broke into the industry by lighting up the crowd outside an appearance by New York Legend Funkmaster Flex.
The same tenacity and dedication and innovation has defined Dru’s career as a solo artist thus far. In Essence went on to release a successful “The Master Plan” album, followed by hit track “You’ll Never Find,” which received airplay on both sides of the border to substantial acclaim.
Currently based in Mississauga, Dru is a force in the industry, and a devoted father. Maintaining his drive, humility, talent and professionalism, Dru is poised to introduce a new brand of style to Canada’s R&B landscape.
